Peak Season

Talking to our clients and staff it seems that 2008 peak season might indeed be very flat. While we have to ensure we protect the space required by our clients this may provide an opportunity to reduce costs by consolidation of shipments. Peak season planning is a subject YRCL staff will have high on the agenda during review meetings and I would be very interested in any ideas that could help our clients further.

Fixed sea freight rates until January 2009

You can't turn the news on without hearing about the rising cost of Oil and we have all noticed how much petrol at the pump is now costing us. Shipping lines have also been increasing their surcharges to cover the increasing cost of fuel, so when I had a meeting this week with a supplier looking to provide us with a fix term FCL rates including BAF & CAF until January 2009, It makes me wonder how attractive this will be for importers and would be grateful to hear your thoughts and comments?
